About the Author
My name is Julia Pilas. I was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on a beautiful spring day in April. After forty-seven years I moved to Morristown, New Jersey, a picturesque town, that I refer to as “God’s Country”. I moved here with my daughter Diana and husband Nicholas seeking a new life with the intentions of beginning a new venture. That venture was the purchase of a small business, a pet store called “The Elephant Nose Pet Center” that we are very proud of and all work very hard at. Together we turned a rundown business into a respected community landmark for all our families to visit with a story to be shared or a new hobby to be started.
While my degree is in Business my passion is in writing. Throughout my life, I have been known in my family as the person who had a letter for every cause and a cause for every letter I wrote. If there was a friend or a family member who needed to get a message or point across they’d call on me and together we’d do so. My passion also includes my family. I have been happily married to my husband Nick for thirty eight years. Like many couples we have had our ups and downs but through it all we banded together and did whatever we had to do to overcome any obstacles that were dealt to us. For us there was never any river too wide or mountain too high. In July, after three years in the making, I was granted a United States of America Patent for the benefit of those who would like to make the walking of their pet a more enjoyable experience. I am also a Real Estate agent that I have been very successful at. Through the course of my six years as an agent I have received awards in the fields of Top Revenue, Producer, Volume, Sales, Circle of Excellence, and ultimately became a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club.
For me the most important role I will ever play in my life is the role of being a mother. After the first nine years of our marriage Nick and I were blessed with our daughter Diana. I am a firm believer that when you bring a child into this world you have to be certain and prepared to devote your whole being to that child. Children are a gift from God and should never be taken for granted. While our daughter is now a vibrant intelligent young woman as a child we raised her to be respectful of others but more importantly to respect herself. We taught her to never say never when there was a task to be accomplished, to always be fair and just to those she has dealings with, and most of all even when life throws her a curve, to always try to live each day with a happy heart. For me, in life, the glass is never half empty it is always half full and if you take the time to look, there is always a silver lining to every troublesome situation.
After many years of working hard my hope is that retirement is right around the corner and I can take that much needed time off to enjoy life with my family. Although Diana has no immediate plans for having children I am sure someday I will be a grandmother and I look forward to devoting my time to help Diana raise her children. Until that day I intend on continuing my writing career, and with all else behind me, I will devote all my time in doing so.
As you can see while my life has been a busy one and at times not so easy, it has never been my style to “put my feet up and relax”. Instead I have found great satisfaction and pride in every accomplishment I have made and would not have traded any of it for all the money in the world.
